Discovery Boxes are a great way to enhance your classroom lessons. Discovery boxes are $25 per box for a two-week rental. A credit card authorization form must be signed for all rentals. Animal Signs: An assortment of items that give clues as to what kinds of animals might reside in an area. Examples include bones, tracks, feathers, nests, and egg shells.
Birds: Bird related books and visual aids including feathers, nests, bones and owl pellets.
Endangered Species: This box includes various items relating to endangered species. Examples include numerous items confiscated by Conservation Officers such as turtle skin boots, ivory carvings, and elephant hair bracelets.
Insects: Books, posters and other visual aids from the world of insects, including a hornet’s nest, insect eggs, moth’s cocoon, and an insect collection.
Historical Turn-of-the-Century Life: Look back in time with a box full of items (mostly reproductions) from the turn-of-the-century, including children’s toys, clothing items, candlesticks, and washboards.
Mammals: Mammal books and visual aids including skulls, pelts, tracks, and scat from various mammals that can be found in the Wiregrass Region.
Native Americans: Two boxes of books and other items portraying the lives of Native Americans including pottery reproductions, clay gorgets and beads, and stone tools.
Reptiles: Reptile related books, posters and visual aids, including turtle shells, a crocodile egg shell, an alligator cast, snake skins and much more!
Trees: Items, and books about trees. This box includes ‘tree rings’, leaves, identification charts, and an assortment of seeds.
DISCOVERY BOX RENTAL POLICIES
Pick-up and Return
Discovery Boxes cannot be picked up without a prior appointment. Appointments may be made by filling out the Discovery Box Reservation Request Form. A member of the Education Department will then send you an email confirming your pick up date and time. If you would like to change your pick up time, please contact the Education Director ASAP. You and a Landmark Park staff member will inspect the Discovery Box and you will need to sign the rental agreement and credit card authorization forms prior to departing. Upon returning the Discovery Box, you and a Landmark Park staff member will inspect and inventory items in the Discovery Box.
A credit card authorization form must be signed as a damage/replacement deposit and is required to secure your rental. Payment of $25/box is due by the pick-up date. Payment can be made by credit card, cash, or check either in person or over the phone. If you would like to mail your payment to Landmark Park, please mail to:

If you find that you will be unable to return the materials on time, please contact Landmark Park as soon as possible. Late fees will be applied at $10 a day/box. If the box is not returned after a time span of two months, you will be charged a $250 fee/ box.
While normal wear and tear are expected, however excessive damage and/or missing items are not. Materials are inventoried and inspected after each use. A $50 damage fee will be issued for damaged or missing items.
